Odds types
You can see on many places (at certain bookmakers) three types of odds presenting:
- European odds: 1,50
- British odds: 1/2
- American Odds: -200
Here is how various odds are calculated:
European (Decimals) - in Bulgaria and most European bookmakers use European odds. We take a sample odds 1.50:
- Profit = Stake * Odds $300 x 1.50 = $450
- Net profit = Stake * (Odds - 1) $300 x (1.50 - 1) = $150
British (Fractions) - Most rarely you will see this odds type because the UK bookies usually offer European odds also. This is a very simple system in which the stake is divided into parts and immediately see how much you earn. Example 2 / 5 (if you split your bet of 5 parts, net income will be 2 of them):
- Profit = Stake * (Odds + 1) $300 x (1/2 +1) = $450
- Net profit = Stake * Odds $300 x 1/2 = $150
American odds - These are three-digit odds and can be positive or negative. If there is a minus in front of the odds means that the ratio is below 2.00. It's easier to calculate the positive ones. Examples with -200 и +275:
- Profit = Stake * (1 + 100/ Odds) $300 x (1 + 100/200) = $450
- Net profit = Stake * 100/ Odds $300 x 100/200 = $150
- Profit = Stake * (1 + Odds /100) $300 x (1 + 275/100) = $1125
- Net profit = Stake * Odds /100 $300 x 275/100 = $825
Example: Chelsea - Blackburn
